Default Homemade Gold Test

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if someone knew how to test gold at home.

I don't need to know the gold quality necessarily (Yet), just if it is indeed gold and not copper, brass, or pyrite.

I know that neither of the metals listed above are magnetic so I've performed that test at the least.

Thanks

when I worked in a pawn shop we would test for gold by rubbing a few streaks of the gold on a black stone, apply different strengths of acid until the streak dissolved and dissapeared from the stone, the strongest grade of acid that didnt dissolve the gold indicated the karat or gold content. any type of fake gold would fizz away with the weakest solution.
